This grill is the perfect size. I like the slight angle of the cooking surface so that the small amount of fat will flow into the drip tray at the bottom of the unit. Cooking is simple if the grill times in the George Foreman manual are followed.

I like the bun warmer which is found on the top of the unit. Not all George Foreman Grills have this feature. Clean up is easy using a sponge. I haven't found anything I don't like about this product.

I have had a Champ GR10 for about 6 years and love it. BUT the Champ is just a bit to short for a single Ribeye steak. One end hangs out raw and you must flip it over to cook both ends. Which means the center gets a bit doner than I like. This new GR19 is just the ticket, same width for small home use but a bit longer. Just what I wanted. I love it for a single person. And the new style is easy on the eyes as well. I will give these as gifts.

We received this grill for x-mas last year and absolutely love it! It comes in handy for those midnight cravings for burgers. We just pop our frozen patties in and in minutes we have burgers! The bun warmer is great if you like your buns warm... however, we prefer ours toasted, so we rarely use that feature. It is a really good gift for one or two people, since the cooking surface is so small. I think once our little family grows we are going to invest in a larger Foreman without the bun warmer!

This grill rocks! Seriously, I'm the farthest thing from a chef and the George Forman grill has turned me into a wannabe culinary artist. I used to burn water and now I can grill up a steak or make a grilled chicken salad or WHATEVER! I've even had friends over for dinner which was a pure shock for everyone involved. Cleaning it is also relatively simple. While I'm sure some people don't enjoy actually having to clean anything manually, it's really not a difficult task unless you're too lethargic from eating a good meal. Or lazy, of course. The grill is useful in handling small scale grill like cooking. Enough for 2 people, or 2 burgers. It cooks a nice grill including beef, chicken, fish, etc. However, it does comes with some drawbacks.
First of all, in-door GRILL means there will be smoke. Not as much as those charcoal but since you do not cook out door, you do need a good range hood. So there goes your stove top.
Next problem is cleaning. Thanks to the teflon coating, cleaning is relatively easy. But the designer decided to make it more challenging by disallowing you to remove the grill surface nor wash it under water. It DOES get dirty and depends on what you are cooking, it could mean a lot of work!

My family has owned countertop grills for a few years now. Not George Forman grills though. We loved the convience of having an inside grill, but we hated the clean-up. The grill we just replaced had removeable grill plates (for easy clean-up). MY EYE! Instead of grease dripping into the dish provided it would drip all over the counter and under the grill plate itself. Though only once did it catch fire.

When we ordered the George Foreman I was very skeptical about it doing all that it is suppose to do. Boy was I surprised, it cleaned up very easily, no mess with the grease, plus no pesky kitchen fires to ruin your evening. The bun warmer is also a favorite feature of mine. I usually have to heat the oven to toast my hamburger buns, NO MORE! My husband and I are so happy with this grill I will definately be recommending it to everyone I meet. I'll also remember where I received a wonderful price for it.

This is the third George Foreman grill I've purchased in the last 8 or 9 years. Mine sees near daily use, sometimes twice per day. This model is the best yet as it features a On/Off switch, a major plus in my book as you don't need to unplug it to turn it off. When the unit is first turned on, the DIGITAL DISPLAY begins a 5 minute pre heat countdown, another great new feature. Incidentally, this feature also doubles as a cooking timer but bear in mind it can only be set in full minute increments. Lastly, the stylish stainless steel exterior compliments the new look which many kitchen appliances now have.

A good product made even better!

I do concur with the previous post regarding cleaning the grill. The best method I have found is to fold a paper towel, moisten one end of it under the kitchen faucet and use it to clean a still warm grill surface. Much easier than scraping and gentler on the non stick finish of the grilling surface.

This is the best new appliance I've had in my kitchen in many years........I reluctantly tried it because everyone else had it.....and now I wouldn't part with it........I've cooked everything from potato pancakes to sea scallops to grilled tomatoes and frozen fish....From another model's review, I would recommend that after using the appliance....and unplugging it....the user put wet towelling on the grill and cleanup is a snap.
Enjoy this product....It's kind to food....It's fast....and any cook will enjoy its versatility..........I certainly do.....

"Quick and nutritious meals" 2008-02-01

I bought the small size grill; enough for 2 hamburgers, or 2 chicken breasts, etc. It cooks both sides at once and I only cook thawed meat so the inside will get cooked thoroughly. I may upgrade to the next larger size, but this is fine for one or two people. I even cook meat ahead of time for my husband's lunches so he only has to warm in the microwave; beats those expensive frozen meals. To clean up, use a damp paper towel on the warm (not hot) grill and wipe down; don't need soap or rinsing. Just toss the paper towel and dry it off and that's it. Easy to store; to clean the grease tray, pop the tray into the freezer for a few hours and then pop out the frozen bit of grease into the trash. You can wash the grease tray by hand or in dishwasher . Doesn't really matter since you don't eat out of it anyway!!

I highly recommend this to everyone; I am buying one for both my kids out on their own. I bought mine at one of those "dollar" stores and on sale at that so it was a reeeeeeaaaaaalllll bargain.

This is a great size grilling machine for a single person. It has served me well for the last two years. Now that I have a family I will most likely move up to a larger-sized grill. I will still use this one for cooking small meals. Once you know the secret of clean-up (hint: clean with damp paper towels while the grill is still warm or warm it up slightly prior to cleaning it) it is really not that bad as far as maintenance. Of course it would be SO much easier if the cooking surfaces could be put in the top rack of a dishwasher (sigh!).

I started off with this model and the Atkins diet, and loved it for its ease of use and the tilt design. Clean up is definitely not easy after the first 2 or 3 uses, but one trick that works is to unplug the unit and shortly after, wet a paper towel, close it up in the unit and allow it to steam (it will not burn). The steam allows almost anything to wipe away easily. Unfortunately, after each use, we noticed more and more teflon chipping away. I insisted my family was abusing it and finally had to get rid of it because there was so little teflon left making sticking during cooking and cleaning a nightmare. My son purchased a new fancier model for me for Christmas and NO ONE used it but me. Once again, the teflon is beginning to chip away. I'm looking into a real indoor grill now, perhaps Delonghi, and not an imitation.

I received a George Foreman grill as a gift a couple of years ago. We moved recently and the movers packed my Foreman grill - I thought I was going to go crazy! So, I invested in a new one. I was not dissapointed in the least - LOVE this grill too. I like the added feature of the bun/roll warmer. It's so quick and easy to use and clean. Some people have commented that these are hard to clean. As long as the grill is warm it wipes right off with a wet paper towel. Can't beat that!

This grill is great and fast for cooking and clean up!

First let me counter the previous reviewer:

1) What's to explain? you plug it in, put your food on it and wait. Orange light means it's on..duh.

2) Only one Foreman grill has an on/off switch..minor inconvienence and I'd rather unplug it then forget to turn it off.

3) You failed to heed warning not to force the lid closed no doubt.

4) Fits 2 6oz burgers just fine.

5) Idea is to "drain the fat". That's teh POINT of the grill to remove that disgusting grease from teh burgers, etc. If they are too dry, you're overcooking them or using 73% lean beef..lol.

I've used this about 4 times since I got it a week or so ago. Couple times for burgers, once for chicken and once for hotdogs.

- Frozen burgers cook in about 8 mins. The grease catch nearly fills...but the burgers still have flavor and juicy. Just don't over cook them...that's when they dry out.

- Chicken cools fast, but does stick more then beef. Little shot of Pam would do the trick probably. Again, DON'T OVERCOOK or chicken will dry out.

- Frozen hotdogs cooked in 5 mins...nice a plump. Good dogs produced little grease...

- Cleanup...takes about 2 mins, a damp spoonge and some paper towels....wait for it to cool, but still slightly warm for easiest cleanup. As with anything that has contact with grease, use a mild dishwashing detergent and warm water to clean. then rinse with cold water on paper towels.

For some of the other comments I read below. I don't see it tipping over unless you have a earthquake or a unstable surface. The grease tray shouldn't tip either if it's not bumped into hard. Sounds to me that those complaining about this have a small kitchen and no counter space for it and bump into it a lot.

So far, I"m happy. I'm able to cook a little healthier and quicker and safer. (last time I cooked burgers in a frying pan, had every smoke alarm in house go off..lol).

I'll post another review if it dies in a year. ;)

First the good:

Veggies, fish, and burgers come out perfectly done, juicy, flavorful and delicious. After the unit warms up for about 5 minutes, a light goes out similar to a waffle iron, and the food is placed on the grill for various amounts of time depending on the food. Fat drains down into a drain pan. The teflon coating seems high quality and is pretty non-stick. A light oil spray or olive oil rub on the veggies makes the grill almost totally non-stick.

The bad:

There is no on/off switch, so it has to be plugged in to turn on and unplugged to turn off. The unit has no handle, so it is hard to open. The bun warmer cover comes off almost every time the unit is opened. The teflon coated griddles are not removable so the unit is hard to clean.

The ugly:

No matter how careful I am, I get burned every time I use this because of the lack of a handle.

The bottom line:

I'll be using a counter top grill from now on but I'm going to dump this one and look for these features: An on/off switch would be nice. I'll require a cool handle to open and close it safely, removable grill plates for cleaning, and no chincy bun warmer or other parts that fall off in use.

I really liked this machine -- for a while. It was easy to set up and break down for transporting. BUT, even with careful cleaning, it (as well as my small kitchen electric unit) has peeling/flaking finish. I think it is unhealthy to eat food which could contain particles of this finish. I can't find my manual to see if it has replacement parts available. But, certainly can't find parts on the web. So, getting in touch with them for service has, thus far, become impossible. So, if you only need it to last for a season or two, it would be fine. But, don't expect it to endure much longer.

If you want to go camping, get this grill!

A few years ago, my wife and I went on a two-week camping vacation in a tent from South Carolina up through Maine. We had seen this grill in a Target store (only one Target that we've ever seen actually has it) and decided to get it - best decision on the entire trip! This grill is next to impossible to find in a brick-and-mortar store, so if you want it, this is probably the only place to get it now.

Anyway, we used this grill for absolutely everything! It is fairly easy to set up and get going, and heats up quickly. We loved the grill and griddle features. We even boiled water by placing a pot of water onto the griddle section - amazing. Here are the items we cooked (as far as I can remember): steaks, corn, beans, pancakes, eggs (all different ways), hot chocolate, grits, grilled sandwiches, etc. This grill does it all! We loved getting up early in the morning, making a hot breakfast right beside the tent, and going exploring or just relaxing. Clean-up was simple, and this is the only grill I've seen where the grease tray actually attaches (wish it did on my in-home George Foremans!) so it doesn't get knocked over or moved around.

Everything fits into the case which can be used as a small table - this actually turned out to be very handy, as it allowed us to keep our supplies off the ground or the dirty picnic tables. It is easy to cary with the handle, and sets up quickly.

As far as the fuel goes, you have to leave the fuel bottle leaning diagonally to fit onto the valve, unless you have a propane bottle that is only three inches high. This would definitely not work with a large cylinder of propane, as ours were only about 8 inches tall (standard size) and couldn't fit underneath to sit flat. Perhaps you could rig it up with a hose, but I really can't recommend that because it would be a safety issue. This is my only issue with the grill, and the many benefits outweigh this small problem.

Final word: perfect for a small family that is camping out. I wouldn't recommend it for in-home use, of course, and it isn't large enough for more than about 4 servings of food. Take along an extra pot or so, and you can use it for every cooking need that you have on the trip. I don't know about the rest of the US, but I've only seen it in the one store, and that was years ago - if you want it, you better get it here.

A quality produce that cooks oilessly, goes anywhere, stows compactly, and can be used on a picnic table, or set on the ground with it's included legs. The best part is, or can be, the price. I have seen them at $129, a fair price, and I have seen them deeply discounted. I see there are none for sale on Amazon as I write this, what a shame. I am going to try to track some down, and if successful, I will sell them here! Consider that a disclosure that I am, or plan to be selling these, so, I have an ulterior motive for a good reveiw, but I have ome of these that I use personally, and have for years, I like it.

I have this grill in the elec mode and gas, there is a giant one, however, it is hard to find. Cooking is very good but the best is the clean-up, wipe it clean or wash it off since it fits in a normal sink. The nicest feature of the portable gas one is it is clean, ever put a charcoal or gas grill in your car?? The Target price is nice, I got some on clearance for $24.97!! I have also paid $99 when they could not be found anywhere else! However, each store carries on the average of TWO so you better buy it when you see it! When I saw the price on this grill, I thought the extra money for the propane tank, the gas hose and the propane was worth it. It really is. It evenly cooks anything I've put on it with a tight lid that has an exhaust to control how much moisture gets released. The clean-up is REALLY easy, as you just take the grill and the cover off and clean them by hand. That's all you need to clean.

The tank is very easy to hook up and the heat adjustment works fine. My only complaint is even at the lowest heat range, I think it's still too hot.

The best thing about the grill is that it packs up into a tight piece that you can store. When you get to your camp site, you can roll it around using a handle and the wheels, but the thing is so light, I just hand carry it. It's a great all around grill. The only thing I miss are the lighter fluid fumes.

Before I got my George Foreman Portable Propane Gas Grill, I read about it and figured with all the raves, reviews, and feast of features, it must be too good to be true. I was in for a surprise.

Being used to gigantic charcoal (and later gas) tubs, upon my GF Grill's arrival my first impression was, "That's it?!" Even though it's remarkably compact (especially when in "travel" mode) and light (just over 20-lbs), it's built of durable materials and is very sturdy. It takes about 30 mintues of initial out-of-the-box assembly and once you get the hang of it, less than 5 minutes from travel/storage mode to fire-up. The propane burner then takes about 7 minutes to fully heat the grill plate, so you can be grilling in under 15 minutes total. No more excuses about waiting for the grill to heat up!

The lid is designed with 2 flew (exhaust) settings - juicy and juicier! The first summer with my GF Grill saw chicken, beef, and veggie kabobs, steak, beef and turkey burgers, and salmon, all with surprisingly tasty results. I'm not your weather-beaten grill guy, and try as I might, my GF Grill wouldn't let me ruin anything! ha! The manual comes with sugguested cooking times for various foods and they worked like a charm.

The heat plate design is superior to the traditional grill grate for a couple reasons: 1) While it's famous for channelling away fat for lean grilling, it doesn't allow all your meat's natural moisture and juices to be lost to the charcoal/heating element, thereby promoting juicier burgers, steaks, etc...; and 2) It makes cleanup a snap. Gone are the days of that nasty, messy grill bristle brush. The GF Grill plate can be cleaned up with a regular wash rag in your kitchen sink in about 5 minutes (depending on the extent of your use).

While many products claim to be portable, the GF Grill lives up to the title. In travel mode, this grill turns out to be about the size and weight of moderate carry-on luggage, easily fitting into the trunk of any car. Its wise use of 1-lb propane tanks (easily and cheaply purchased at most department/home improvement stores) frees the owner up from lugging around gigantic propane kegs or huge, messy bags of charcoal.

You're going to be hard-pressed to find a more economical, portable, easy-to-use grill that produces such consistently excellent results. The George Foreman Portable Propane Gas Grill comes highly recommended for those seeking an inexpensive, clean, and easy way to break into good grilling. Needless to say, I'm thrilled with my grill.

I like the double duty grill. This is the 4th George Foreman grill I have owned. The 1st was too small, the 2nd wore out and the 3rd was accidentally knocked off the counter because it was too big. This one is just the right size. The best thing is that from reading reviews, I learned how to clean the grill. I used to dread cleaning it! But after reading a review, I learned to wet paper towels, put them on the grill and close the lid. After about 15 minutes the grill was cool enough to clean and the paper towels wiped everything off the grill!!!!!!!!!!
I took it to work & we cooked hot dogs for a crowd. Do you know what kind of build-up that caused? It came right off with the wet paper towel method. George should recommend this method of cleaning in his instruction manual.

...but I do NOT like the way this thing cooks. Chicken comes out dry, steak comes out burned outside and raw inside; it does a decent job on thick fish steaks and vegetables like parsnips, but only if you watch it like a hawk because if you let it go just half a minute too long the food is inedible. Maybe I just never got a taste for that barbecue-charred taste that so many people seem to worship but I'm going back to using my oven broiler. Oh, and it's a NIGHTMARE to clean! The provided "safe" scraper tool doesn't fit the grillpan grooves and if you use anything else you'll scrape the Teflon right off. You HAVE to clean it while it's still at top heat and you'll use an entire roll of towel doing it (and probably burn your fingers). Don't even bother trying to clean it if it's started to cool down. After a few uses, both grill pans had a worn, burned patch in the center, which was impossible to clean at all. No wonder this is one of the cheapest contact grills on the market.

My husband and I received this grill as a Christmas gift, It took me a while to finally try it but when I did I was glad. This little guy cooks up one great burger. It's fast, even cooking and the burgers come out just perfect. One of the great featres is the fact that access fat rolls off the meat and is collected in a little tray to be disposed of. I like that since it isn't being deposited on my hips. A BIG plus! It also makes great grilled sandwiches and is a snap to clean. One drawback....it isn't that big so if your family is large you may want to go with a bigger unit. Recommended!

It cooks food evenly and is never greasy. Some say it's hard to clean but I disagee. It's no where near a bad as a dirty, sticky pan.

It also has a great build quality. Simple but terrific product. The exception to the infomercial = junk rule. Ranks higher than the microwave in my book. Every kitchen needs one.

This has nothing to do with Amazon. This product came from a brick and mortar store...I just received this grill for Christmas. I grilled sausage on it the first day and they turned out great -no complaints and better tasting than when cooked on a griddle. Unfortunately, during it's second use the power cut out. I thought it was either a curcuit breaker or Groung Fault Switch- it was neither. The dang thing just stopped working. There is no reset and it doesn't seem to have an access panel designed for consumer use. I don't want to open it up and risk violating the warranty. It would be easy to hate except (after two uses) it turned out great food -when it worked. I'm taking it back for a replacement in the hopes that this was just a fluke.

I wouldn't even rate this with one star!! I was given this grill for a birthday present. For the first year it was great. After about a year and a half, the non-stick finish on the grill started peeling off. Now it is a piece of crap that is hard to clean. I only cleaned it with hot water & dish soap. No abrasives! The numbers on the dial are worn off. Only a very few remain. The grease drips everywhere with very little in the drip tray. It started out as a wonderful piece of kitchen equipment but has turned into nothing but a big worthless piece of crap junk that sits on its recommended stand that you trip over the front leg as it sticks out into your walking path.

i used my first large george foreman grill so much, that the teflon eventually came off. i raved about that grill, but the gr62 i recently purchased is a different story. i just purchased another grill, from another company to replace it. the best thing i can say about the grill, is it looks great, and it has a very large cooking surface. the problem with mine is, it doesn't actually grill the meat. unless i'm cooking a very thick steak or some other thick meat, the top cooking surface doesn't touch the top of the meat. so, one side of the meat gets light grill lines, but the other side is just browned. the cooking surface doesn't hug the meat well enough. for the most part, i end up, sort of, baking my meat instead of grilling it. i've read other reviews, where people have complained the grill doesn't get hot enough. that may be part of the problem.

After reading good reviews on this grill, I bought it because it seemed like just what I was looking for. I was tired of cleaning my range hood frequently because of grilling meat in a large cast iron skillet. The good: The Foreman grill is easy to clean and does not smoke. The bad: the meat does not taste as good. The grill does not get as hot as the skillet. Therefore, it is not very useful to me because cleanup alone does not a good product make.
